Manage Schedule

1. Understanding the Client's Decision Process
   A thorough understanding and incorporation of the client's decision process into the schedule is required. It is our responsibility to bring well developed and supported recommendations to the client for decisions, but the client must respond within agreed-upon time frames to keep the project on track.
2. Milestone Dates
   Interim milestone dates are established and tracked. Detailed schedule reviews are required at each project team meeting so each member understands his/her obligations.
3. Schedule Updates
   The entire team will be required to submit schedule updates back to the project management team prior to the regular project meeting. The updated schedule can then be reviewed and adjusted in the weekly meeting with all participants actively involved in the process. This is the collaborative technique that keeps the entire team aware of the importance of the schedule, and their role in achieving the desired schedule results.
4. Action Item List
   An "Action Item List" is a critical part of the weekly project team meeting, where small activities (beyond milestones) are tracked. If a task is not accomplished, ways to complete the task within a reasonable time frame are agreed upon and documented for subsequent follow-up.
5. Long Lead Items
   Long-lead construction items are identified early and, if necessary, pre-purchased to allow adequate delivery times to enable overall project schedule compliance.
